KENICE MOBLEY'S 'FOLLOW UP QUESTION' A NEW COMEDY ALBUM OUT DECEMBER 9, 2022 ON BLONDE MEDICINE

Blonde Medicine is pleased to announce the release of North Carolina-born, New York comedy favorite Kenice Mobley’s debut stand-up album Follow Up Question on December 9, 2022.

On Follow Up Question Mobley covers topics ranging from her hunky Tony Danza-esque therapist, and her relationship with her mom, to a questionable one night stand that spawns a business idea. Kenice’s material, while often blue, is balanced by a genuinely inquisitive style that engages the audience and draws in listeners to her outrageous stories and congenial wit.

Perhaps for Kenice, this same inquisitiveness led her to major in psychology and history in college, with plans to continue to a Ph.D. in psychology and on to a life of research and practice. These plans were derailed nearly a decade ago when, according to Kenice: “I started (doing stand-up) after going to a show with a guy I was dating at the time. Or at least, he said it was a show. It was actually an open mic. I didn’t enjoy his comedy at all, and we had to break up shortly after, but I realized, if he can do this, I can do this too. Then I started listening to stand up albums compulsively and started writing.”

The album showcases Maggie’s growth as a comedian. She uses her signature silly style to tell hilarious stories about being a butch lesbian and a snow plow driver for the Department of Transportation. NEW YORK, NY - August 22, 2022 - Blonde Medicine is excited to announce the upcoming comedy album from Subhah Agarwal, Dog Show, due out October 7th, available everywhere comedy is streamed and sold.

She subtly and hilariously broaches topics such as beauty standards, dating dirtbags and having to deal with racist neighbors. Subhah’s punchy style pokes fun at her conservative Indian family including her over-protective mother, and high-achieving brother.

Says Annick, “the pandemic made a lot of us realize what we want in life, and I got much more determined. I for one decided to infect more people. With laughter.

Steven Rogers Debut Comedy Album "BEFORE HE WAS SUPER" to Launch May 6, 2022 on Blonde Medicine

Blonde Medicine is excited to announce the May 6, 2022 release of Steven Rogers’ debut comedy album. Recorded at The Tropicana Room at the National Comedy Center, Steven Rogers' Before He Was Super is a prime example of personal material and deft writing, forged on New York’s best stages. Coinciding nicely with Mental Health Awareness Month, the album, like much of Rogers’ work, has an emphasis on mental health management, including what it’s like when even the anxiety medicine directions give you anxiety, lying about being a smoker to get away from socializing at parties, and how unhelpful guy friends are during a panic attack. He also touches on dating strong women, growing up with very cool parents, and his adventures in car maintenance.

Originally from San Diego, Zalay started doing standup comedy in grad school at Boston University, researching the neuroscience of addiction by day and performing comedy by night. However, he found that he had become addicted… to comedy, and upon graduating he moved to NYC to pursue standup full time. Zalay has been chasing the dragon ever since, a pursuit that has led him to Los Angeles where he currently resides.

Blonde Medicine is excited to announce the debut comedy album from Karinda Dobbins, Black & Blue, due out February 4th, available everywhere comedy is streamed and sold. The Bay Area comedian who has shared the stage with household names like Trevor Noah, Roy Wood Jr. and Gina Yashere recorded the album on a co-headlining bill with one of her best friends, Dhaya Lakshminarayanan. It was a celebratory event in that special slice of fall 2021 when the Covid numbers were low and the vax numbers were high. As Karinda says “We brought a lot of black and brown people to San Francisco. I think they should give us the key to the city or at least the key to the Tenderloin or the Mission.”

Karinda Dobbins was born and raised in Detroit, where she got her start being a comedian, as her family says, since childhood. She started doing jokes on stage 12 years ago at an open mic in Oakland on a light dare from a friend, and has been honing her craft ever since. Black & Blue is a strong collection of that work, delivered in a unique moment, covering ordinary life including her girlfriend’s arbitrary policy on household pests, the changes hipsters have brought to Oakland, and a unique packing list for hiking provided by black women - who you should always listen to.

NEW YORK, NY - January 19th, 2022 - Blonde Medicine is excited to announce the debut comedy album from Chris Martin, All Over The Place, due out February 18th, available everywhere comedy is streamed and sold.

The record is made up of sets recorded around SoCal after Martin’s move from the UK, as he says “giving up bad weather and bad customer service, for sunshine and gun crime.” He reflects upon his first couple of years living in California as well as observations about slowly growing up. Touching upon living in a new country with a new rhythm and way of looking at life, the album gets into serious topics while striking a positive tone.

“The album is generally pretty upbeat because life can be pretty depressing a lot of the time, but I choose to look for the more fun aspects to talk about” says Chris Martin. He is also keen to stress that he is not the lead singer of Coldplay, but if the name confusion leads to any one accidentally buying the album he will absolutely take their money.

VALERIE TOSI - BEACH TRASH OUT JANUARY 21, 2022

That Valerie is a great joke writer goes without saying. It’s her ability to take her very modern, evolved worldview and marry it with her no-nonsense, working class voice that makes her so special.
- Dana Gould (The Simpsons)

Blonde Medicine is pleased to announce the January 21, 2022 release of Beach Trash, the debut comedy album from Valerie Tosi.

Beach Trash is named in honor of the beach town north of Boston where Tosi spent a portion of her childhood. Tosi is a self-proclaimed “white sheep in a family of black sheep”, the child of stoner parents who excel at storytelling, she carries on this family tradition with masterfully spun stories of being in her 30s, making it through Covid, being bad at bisexuality, family, dating, and travel along with tales of growing up in delightfully “sinful” and salty environs.

TONE BELL’s NEW COMEDY ALBUM OUT SEPTEMBER 3, 2021

One Night in Austin is the sophomore full-length from Tone Bell, following up his debut Can’t Cancel This from 2019. One Night in Austin was recorded live at the Vulcan Gas Co. in Austin, TX., and in order to make it as authentic a snapshot of a live show as possible, the audience wasn’t told it was a taping. In fact this was Bell’s second attempt at capturing this material. An original attempt in Phoenix was ultimately scrapped because, according to Bell: “something wasn’t right. I was trying to make something be there that wasn’t there yet.” Upon second attempt the magic was captured, and one night in Austin became One Night in Austin!

Bell describes One Night in Austin as a sexy/savory trail mix of stories with something everyone can enjoy. Drawn from the best true stories that were part of his set just before the shutdown, as well as material stemming from life that happened during, Tone steers clear of pandemic material.

Joyelle Nicole Johnson - YELL JOY - cover art 6000x6000.jpg

DEBUT ALBUM FROM JOYELLE NICOLE JOHNSON SLATED FOR JUNETEENTH

Joyelle Nicole Johnson is a self-proclaimed “Jersey girl” but currently calls Atlanta home. She got her start in comedy when she moved to LA with her sister who was attending USC’s prestigious writers program. Joyelle decided to pursue acting, but also started going to comedy shows every month at the Laugh Factory for Chocolate Sundaes. The Comedy Playground, the Laugh Factory Wednesday sketch show hosted by Kevin Hart lured Joyelle in. The sketch troupe was full of stand-up comics (Tiffany Haddish, Rodney Perry, David Arnold) and Joyelle joined just as the show disbanded and Hart moved on to bigger things. Joyelle’s friend and fellow-comedian Candice Thompson approached her to try her hand at stand-up at open mics, and that’s all she wrote.

YELL JOY is comprised of pre-pandemic sets recorded at The Village Underground. Joyelle packs in the punchlines, and the audience is absolutely electrifying. She opted to celebrate the NY club format, keeping the showcase sets whole and releasing her debut album as 4 volumes  - Friday Early, Friday Late, Saturday Early, and Saturday Late.

Maronzio Vance - 20 [3000x3000 72dpi).jpg

Announcing a New Comedy Album From Maronzio Vance
’20’ Out April 2

20 is a west coast album. It was recorded live on stage in both San Francisco and Los Angeles in the months prior to the pandemic. Originally from Charlotte, North Carolina, Vance has been a self-proclaimed “prisoner of Los Angeles” since 2001. The album gives a glimpse of how Vance was affected by growing up in LA over the past 20 years.

A Californian for roughly half of his life, Maronzio has been an entertainer for longer. A professional comedian since age 21, acting since age 15, and writing since age 10.

20 is packed with real-world takes on politics, American life, fast food, reality TV obsessions, Malibu burning down, and an epic tale of a massage ruined by a burrito. Citing Eddie Murphy as the primary inspiration for entering the entertainment business, inspiring his acting as well as his comedy, Vance credits James Baldwin, Alice Walker, David Sedaris, Walter Mosley, Ta-Nehisi Coates, and Toni Morrision as inspirations behind his writing, which flows prolifically enough to demand a double-album.

ANNOUNCING A NEW COMEDY ALBUM FROM KYLE AYERS
'HAPPINESS'
OUT OCTOBER 16, 2020 ON BLONDE MEDICINE

Blonde Medicine is pleased to announce the October 16, 2020 release of Happiness, the debut full-length comedy album from Kyle Ayers. Kyle explains the title this way: "I try very hard to be positive and happy, but it doesn’t come easy. I put effort into it, and it’s up and down. I hope the album can bring people some Happiness. Plus, it’s fun to say 'Now you can buy Happiness' when the album comes out."

Happiness was recorded in front of a packed, energetic, pre-pandemic crowd in an outdoor show space in Echo Park. Kyle is fascinated in equal measure by the dynamics of live comedy performances, as well as by the jokes. Although recording outside on a Saturday night presented some difficulties, it allows Kyle to riff on the goings-on witnessed collectively by performer and audience - these include ambulances, birds, a cricket, and at one point someone literally skateboards into the album recording. Kyle wanted an album that feels as close as possible to “seeing me perform in person any given night, when I’ve got it all going...I think stand-up is best live”.

Carrozza describes his stand-up persona as a “fun silly boy”, one that is playful, absurd, and naive, but there’s an “alt comedy” element too; Carrozza likes to play with the expectations of comedy and remind the audience that they are being entertained. Sure, the show is immersive, but you’ll be reminded: “This is performance.”

ANNOUNCING A NEW COMEDY ALBUM FROM CALISE HAWKINS
'CALISE HAWKINS IS 40 AF'
OUT AUGUST 14, 2020 ON BLONDE MEDICINE

In 2019 Calise performed at the Black Women In Comedy Festival at the Brooklyn House of Comedy. It was her 39th birthday, and she spent it surrounded by dozens of hilarious black women telling their stories onstage. For Calise, this moment was truly inspirational. Over the course of her more than 15 years in comedy, Calise had been told the reason there weren't more women sharing bills (let alone black women) was because audiences didn't want to hear the same jokes repeated. During the BWIC Festival, Calise saw comedian after comedian take the stage to tell their own original, hilarious stories from endlessly different perspectives. That's why one year later Calise celebrated her 40th birthday by recording her debut comedy album at the Brooklyn House of Comedy. Even today she feels encouraged to keep telling her own story.

KC Arora is an Indian-American Queens-bred comic who was raised in a diverse neighborhood where everybody acted Italian. He's been working for the last decade in clubs all around NYC. Draw 4, out June 12 on Blonde Medicine is KC Arora's execution of the elusive triple entendre - motivated by Jay-Z's lyric in the song "Light Up";

Often, an entertainer's value is determined by their “draw”, the amount of people they can get to attend their show. In Arora's career leading up to this album’s debut, he reports that he could easily say that he could draw...4 people: "Just look at my first attempt to record this album late last year - it was a complete failure. Fortunately, I got another shot and recorded at a club that was confident that I could bring the laughs, while they brought an audience."

"(I) really felt good about the body of material I was touring with. I think sometimes you can fall out of love with a joke if you've been telling it for a while, and I just wanted to record while the material still felt new and exciting to me. I like stand-up records that really recreate the feeling you get when you're at the performance, and I think we succeeded in doing that."

Marking his 10th year in comedy, Haze wanted a body of work to timestamp what he was doing during his first decade in stand-up. He sees a debut album as a sort of mission statement, laying out who a comedian is and how they see the world and Haze-O-Pedia does just that. Recorded at The Setup in San Fransisco. Said Haze, "San Fran is a magical place. I hadn't performed in the Bay in 7 years and I figured a place foreign to me would be perfect conditions for an album."
